A voice for youth & families * GUIDE’s Youth & Family Advisory Board (YFAB) *

GUIDE’s Youth & Family Advisory Board (YFAB), supported by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), engages youth, ages 15-23, and parents/guardians of those in these age ranges in providing feedback, input, support and voice to statewide prevention projects across Georgia.

The YFAB is equipped with diverse youth perspectives and recommendations to enhance youth-serving programs and campaigns across the state.

The YFAB comes together to enhance leadership skills through mentoring and committees. Throughout the year, the YFAB has the opportunity to participate in numerous virtual and in-person trainings, leadership events, workshops and feedback opportunities. Training topics include, but are not limited to, advocacy, substance use trends, the Strategic Prevention Framework, leadership, communication, teamwork, public speaking and facilitation.

  • They will also elect members to represent the YFAB on DBHDD’s CAC as well as other groups as necessary.

Compensation will vary depending on the type of event ranging from $25 - $40 to $25 - $300 per event.
