How YFAB creates new friendships & personal growth

“For me personally the best part about being in YFAB would have to be meeting new people and watching people that I already knew grow out of their comfort zone. Others around me  would consider me to be an extrovert and I whole heartedly agree. I love meting new people, and welcoming a new friend into my life. Most of all I love helping new people and YFAB has given me the opportunity to do this. I know Ne’yala as my cousin while you all know her as the YFAB president. Before joining YFAB she was a very quiet and conservative person who never liked to speak up. However since we have joined I have witnessed her become this wonderful young lady who spoke in front of a large crowd of individuals to give a speech that has rewarded her with the position that she holds today. So in conclusion the best part of YFAB to me is the new people and the courage that it gives each and every one of us.”

“The best part of being a YFAB member so far is getting to step outside of our comfort zones in order to discover and build our strengths so that we can further YFAB's purpose.  YFAB provides amazing opportunities to discover more about the kind of people we are and how we can use what makes us different to navigate the world around us.

Over the past couple of months, the members have been getting to know each other and discover more about can bring from our unique lived experiences to YFAB. With each meeting, event, or training session we have, the bond grows stronger. One of the best things is getting to talk and listen to the other members. Even if it's merely a 'check-in' or an 'update' everyone is always doing something new, and we look forward to cheering them on in their endeavors! This may be my favorite part because we always part with a boosted group morale that we get to carry into our everyday lives. The positivity and motivation is there.

I also like to think back to the GTI Leadership Summit that we all attended. Even though we had separate roles to fulfill, everyone was excited to either reunite for meet each other off of Zoom for the first time. That day was incredibly exciting!”
